Merry Christmas!

Ready and waiting.

Ready and waiting.

The prime rib for tomorrow’s dinner is ready for the oven and Thursday night’s chili is on the stove. The presents are wrapped and tucked around the holiday tree. The house is decorated. The joy of Christmas begins at midnight, just a few hours from now, but family fun is on hold until midmorning when a car with Virginia license plates pulls into our South Carolina driveway. When Andrew and Danielle cross the threshold and we have the little ones, Caitlin and David, in our arms, the best of all gifts will be ours.

Wherever you are and whoever you’re with this Christmas, I hope you too will enjoy a holiday filled with love and laughter. And if things get a bit untidy, remember this advice from Andy Rooney: “One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas Day. Don’t clean it up too quickly.”

Many thanks for your kindnesses in the past year. I appreciate your encouragement and friendship and look forward to hearing from you again soon.

It’s now after 5pm on Christmas Day. I hope everything lived up to your expectations and the living room was a mess, as it should be! Hug the babies, hope they’re with you for a few days. Merry merry!

    Dear Marian,

Thank you so very much for your lovely wishes & pictures.

I can’t believe how similar your tree, ornaments, tree topper, traditions, & feelings about being with family are so similar to ours. I love it when the house is all decorated (inside & out) all the gifts are wrapped & waiting, & the carols are playing quietly throughout the houseJ A few of my favorite things.

Our day was lovely & someone actually cleaned up the living room mess, while I was starting the first load of dishesJ

Happy New Year to you & your family, & all my best wishes to you as you continue your GFWC Journey.

    Love, Linda Butcher

Marian and family, Hope your festivities have been merry and bright! Our special time this year was having Martha with us for five days before Christmas! But of course, that is bittersweet. Her boys were with Keith! We returned from Greenville mid afternoon today after a wonderful Christmas in Greenville at Anthony’s. We did see Martha’s boys yesterday evening and briefly this AM. Thomas is playing the cello and although I am his grandmother and Very biased, he is a natural!

I am looking forward to a slightly slower pace in the post holiday weeks. Wayne finishes his house in early January. We will put it for sale and vacation rental at the same time.

Hope to see you in the near future! Happy New Year to all of you! Carolyn
