Plantapalooza (Guest Blog: University of Georgia Trial Gardens)

With spring just around the corner, it’s time to get ready for three plant sales in Athens, Georgia!

Plantapalooza 2013 will take place on Saturday, April 6th from 8 AM to 2 PM. As many of you know, we will have our plant sale at the Trial Gardens, while the State Botanical Garden and UGA’s Hort Club will also participate. This is Dr. Armitage’s last year with the Trial Gardens, so I hope that you all will be able to make it. (He is also offering ‘Walkabouts with Dr. A’ on March 30th.)

If you aren’t already planning to attend Plantapalooza, we are offering discounts at participating nurseries to ‘up the ante’. For each sale you visit, you will receive a 5% discount at participating local nurseries. This means that if you attend all three sales you can get 15% off! This year’s nurseries include Cofer’s Home and Garden, Specialty Ornamentals, Thomas Orchards, Wildwood Specialty Nursery, Goodness Grows, and Piccadilly Farm.

Here’s what you’ll find:

'Princess Diana' Clematis

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia: Selection of trees, shrubs, herbs, perennials, plus Georgia Gold Medal and native plants.

UGA Horticulture Club: Wide variety of everything ornamental plus vegetables.

Everyone at the Trial Gardens has been working hard since last fall to make sure we have great plants and a great sale, so I am really excited for everyone to come. If you need directions you can check our website or you can look up our address 220 W Green St. Athens, GA 30602. There will be free parking and it should be readily available since the event is on Saturday. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

I look forward to seeing you in April!
