‘Hilltop Mimi’, hybridized by Buddy Dean of Hilltop Gardens, was shown at the August meeting of the Carolinas Dahlia Society in Cashiers, North Carolina.
Carol–I hope to get to the Haywood Community College garden soon…maybe in the next few days. Thanks for passing the info on the Lake Junaluska garden too.
Marian, no question about it, this one is gorgeous! I love the symmetry of the petals.
In 40+ years of gardening, I’ve never grown dahlias til this year. I ordered some plants online and the box arrived with 3 free dahlias thrown in. Stuck ‘um in the dirt (cuz ya can’t throw away free plants, right?). My fave of the 3 has a blossom the size of a small cantaloup, with twisted petals that lack symmetry and are cream on one side and rosy red on the other. It’s called “Nick Sr.” and I’m hooked! It’s a wild looking thing that reminds me of Chihuly glass sculpture! Do you grow them?
Love it! I have some too.
Beautiful, every petal.
Ever been to the dahlia garden at Haywood Community College in Clyde, NC.? Outstanding !
Try the rose garden at Lake Junaluska, same area.

Beautiful Dahlia. I will have to add it to my wish list!
Yow! Electric!
